Hi Rockin' Rainforest Parents!
My name is Katie Derringer and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year at Brighten Academy!! This is my 15th year of teaching. I have had the pleasure of teaching second grade, first grade and kindergarten in the last 15 years. I just love the little ones!
I was born in Wisconsin, but have lived in Douglasville since I was in third grade. I went to Burnett Elementary, Stewart Middle School and Douglas County High School. I attended Furman University, in Greenville, South Carolina and received a BS degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Central Michigan University is where I received my Masters Degree.
I live here in Douglasville with my husband Dax and our 3 amazing children, Brody, Baden and Marley. We have two beautiful dogs, Ally and Giles. I love running, reading, painting, writing poetry and cooking. We are a soccer family, so if I am not at school I am usually at the soccer field!
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family. It is going to be a wonderful year in the Rainforest!!
